Before I go any further with this story, let me tell you a little about myself. Currently, I’m a full-time, direct salesman in the water treatment industry, and have been for the last 10 years. Up until a year or so ago, I’ve been considered one of the best in the state if not the country, with more self-generated sales than anyone I or any of my fellow “water guys” have known. I’m not trying to brag or impress you, as I’m really not the greatest sales guy. I just work harder than anyone I know.

The majority of my friends are in direct sales in either water treatment or shipping and logistics. We think of each other like brothers and our wives get along, as well as our children. With that said, let’s get back to my story.

So, as usual my friends and co-workers are spending time with their families, going to movies, going out of town, etc. but all of a sudden I’m practically a ghost amongst my social circle. Instead, I’m in the den, with either with a book, keyboard, or phone in my hand. Everyone finds that I’m always “working on something”

So of course they wondered why, and frequently asked what I was doing. I hadn’t really explained much to them.  I simply informed them that I was working on a couple different ways to generate additional incomeon-line . Some asked more questions than others, some didn’t seem to care, and of course a few rolled their eyes. You see, as full-time direct salesmen, we’ve been getting approached with different opportunities almost daily. We often would joke around and say we got “mlm’d” that day.

Not to say any of us are close minded, just the thought of selling laundry soaps, or vacations, or air purifiers weren’t of any real interest to us at the time. Now, what did interest me was learning anInternet marketing system. Now of course if you are seeking something, it will generally find you.

So here’s how it all went down: My wife makes a new friend who’s hubby was in MLM. Let me tell you, I was as excited to go over to meet them as I was about getting my wisdom teeth pulled out.

I denied several invitations over, giving various reasons why I couldn’t make it. But of course, in the end my lovely wife won the battle, and brought her husband “the hostage” to this new friends house.

I thought for sure we were in for a long-winded sales pitch, (I pictured them jumping out, wearing suits, while drawing circles on a dry-erase board) but it never came. We just talked casually. And I realized that these guys were really down to earth good people.

Of course my curiosity took over and I grilled this guy for close to an hour about what he did, how he did it, etc. By the time we were about to leave, I found myself convincing him why he should sponsor me.

That was such a short time ago, but the progress has been substantial. It was great to find that after only 5 days, we’d generated income on-line, and since then we’ve been able to secure 4 separate streams of Income.

That sure does help during a huge drop in the housing market. As a water-treatment sales guy, if people aren’t buying homes, they typically aren’t buying systems. This leads me to the point of this whole story.

On Wednesday, I received a call from the regional V.P. of sales. He proceeded to tell me that on Friday, I would be informing my assistant team leader, (which happens to be my closest personal friend) that effective Monday, Aug. 4, hewould no longer have a salary, but was being demoted to a commission only sales rep.

Imagine that feeling. Wow, let me tell you there is no loyalty in corporate America. 5 years we’ve all worked together, and BAM!! With no notice, his salary gone.

Now luckily, this story does have a bit of happiness to it. Luckily for my good friend, he recently took my advice and has secured and additional income stream for himself withOSW.

That, my friends is another story, for another time..
